Today the Afghan refugees that are gathered in Propylaia Athens have organised a press conference to talk about their problem the reason they left their country and to get the support form the Greek society.
They told us that they fled their country becouse of the war and terror taht they face there. They talked about refugee camps that give no support. They talked about a poor country that for over 70 years faces wars and opression. There is no future no hope for them and specialy for the woman and children.
So they came here hoping to find better conditions to be treated as humans to find medical aid and education for their chilidren. Instead of this they faxe attack by the police and neo-nazi partys who call them criminals. The media paint them as the main thing responsible for the rise in crime and the economical problem the Greek faces. They answer tha they are no criminals they are human beings and should be treated likew that not hunted.
Then Petros Konstantinou talked as a representative of the Movement Against Racism and the Fascist threat in Greece. He told the refugees that they are not alone. He said that all Greek people must support the refugees to give them house, to give them assylum to give them a better hope. Petros said that the Greek goverment is hypocritical s at the same tme it says there is no money and there must be new austerity measures the same time it spends billions of Euros on armaments and it also has soldiers on Afghanistan in support to the coalition force.
He also talked about the "refugee camps" that the Greek goverment is ready to make in greece. That camps reminds him of Dahau and Auesvitch and not place for refugee support. We the Greek workers will pressure the government to give asylum to everyone together with housing and medical care to all the refugees. Immigrant and native workers are united.
On the 15th of December there wil be a General strike with the support of the imigrant workers and on 15th of January there will be a new demonstration in support of all refugees.
