Students have condemned Israel to recognize a sovereign Palestinian state that could hold its own government without any pressure from other countries and from Israel, by holding a protest. Surabaya, Indonesia. 08/12/2010
Dozens of students held a demonstration condemning Israel in Puskomnda FSLDK in East Java. The students have condemned Israel to recognize a sovereign Palestinian state, that could hold its own government without any pressure from other countries and from Israel.
The State of Palestine, officially simply Palestine, is a polity that was unilaterally declared in Algiers on 15 November 1988, when the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) National Council (PNC) adopted the Palestinian Declaration of Independence.
The State of Palestine is quite widely recognised by states, although often in equivocal terms. Some countries recognized the state of Palestine, while other countries announced they welcomed this step without explicitly declaring recognition. Some countries recognise the PLO as the "sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people", while others deal with the PLO as the de facto authority in the Palestinian territories. At the time of the 1988 declaration, the PLO did not exercise control over any territory, and designated Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, despite Israeli control.
