South Africa's general election kicked off well, yet there are early reports of officials arrested for being found with marked ballots. One report mentions such ballots marked for the ANC, the other for the IFP. Voting stations are reported to be functional everywhere, with a slight delay due to weather in some regions. There seems to be no doubt about ANC victory, but communal breath is held amoung non-ANC members, that the ANC does not gain enough votes to make single sided changes to the constitution itself. The ANC campaign was largely aimed at the poor & uneducated masses who are easily swayed & rallied against what the ANC has branded "Counter Revolutionaries" - a term now generally used for any ANC opposition. The ANC seems to have a strong influence on the SABC, South African Broadcasting Corporation, which recently pulled a documentary program featuring South African political satirists like Pieter Dirk Uys & Zaphiro.
