The Al-Qaeda linked group, Al-Shabaab have changed the explosive materials they have been using for their suicide and roadside bomb blasts, and begun to use new additional destructive bombs that cause a large impact. Mogadishu, Somalia. 02/01/2011
In recent times the roadside bombs carried out by Al-Shabaab have been causing major losses due to the massive explosive materials made by foreign fighters within the extremist group, Al-Shabaab.
The IED's of Al-Shabaab are believed to have been invented by a number of foreigners mostly from Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen and Sudan who are exceptionally experienced in the technical arrangements of these homemade explosive materials.
This team is said to be behind the invention of the combined mixed explosive materials which is targeted troops and vehicles of the African Union Peace keeping troops, and also the forces of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia plus the soldiers of Ahlu Sunna Waljamea, which is an Islamist group adherent to the “Sunnah and Congregation” that is rooted in traditional Somali Sufism, The Somali Sufism supports a “Moderate” Agenda in opposition to the vision of the militant group, Al-Shabaab. This group is the only a Somali function that has enjoyed a very significant military success against Al-Shabaab.
The militant group of Al-Shabaab usually exploits one of its most visible and achievable tricks after the Al-Shabaab fighters dress in the uniform of the Somali military forces, to then target any military base they need to destroy or sometimes they dress in the uniform of the Somali police forces with explosive belts, this is the only trick which typically enables Al-Shabaab to target anywhere they need although the government varied its military and police uniforms in recent times but Al-Shabaab fighters has swiftly got the new dress and then begun to use for their explosion missions as earlier.
Recently, there has been a failed mission organized by Al-Shabaab which was intended to target senior members of the Somali government but the mission didn't succeed as it was planned and the explosive materials that were structured for this roadside bomb were aborted and seized by the police forces of the Somali government, after identifying some explosive materials placed in the corner of a very busy street, that was permanently used by the senior members and the ministers of the interim government of Somalia.
I was witness to the area where the explosive devices were presented and they were extremely different from the previous explosive devices used by Al-Shabaab.
