20,000 South Sudanese are registered in Darfur, West Sudan to vote in the referendum on the independence of South Sudan. 09/01/2011

Around four million southern Sudanese began to vote in the referendum today to decide whether the region should remain united with the north or secede to establish an independent state.

In Darfur, there are aroun 20,000 people who are registered to vote in 20 polling centers. In this selection, there are photos from Giyada center (in Nyakla, South Darfur) has the largest number of registered voters (almost 3,500) and Al Lait (North Darfur) with more than 2,000 registered.
