Demonstrations in Madrid against the new retirement age
Demonstration against labour reform to increase the retirement age until 67 years old have begun in Madrid, Spain. 27/01/2011
Spain’s government is set to increase the retirement age today in a renewed bid to restore investor confidence after its 20 billion euro ($27 billion) plan to shore up savings banks failed to tame the nation’s borrowing costs.
The Socialist government plans to pass the bill at a Cabinet meeting that starts at 9 a.m. in Madrid, and will be followed by a news conference at 1:45 p.m.

i like very much 2 photos of you report , the first because it shows the intensity of the next violent moment and the policeman pushing the photograph , i was more scared by the police than by the radicals.

great to see you last night, i was afraid when it turn violence. So i run trying to esquive the danger. the police was very violent more than certains youngs radicals.
my daughter and i arrived in plaza santa ana and saw about 30 young persons putting fire.
i like your report because you have show the intensive moment.

Hi Nathalie, indeed it was great meeting you last night. And your reporting is really impressive. When we turned up at Plaza Santa Ana it was full of smoke and seemed like a whole building was on fire. Your reporting confirms the reality on the ground was a bit different: more smoke than fire!!
