Silent traces of volcanic ash remains in villages, covering everything it came into contact with after the Merapi volcano eruptions, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. 27/10/2010
The eruption of Merapi on 26/10/2010 and 05/10/2010 has forced ten of thousands to flee. Behind them is only sadness and an ash buried civilisation. I tried to capture the aftermath of what now is buried deep in the memory, deep in the ashes, and deep behind. Merapi is still a danger for those who live nearby and from it. But Merapi is as well their best friend, which provides food for them, despite it's cruel way to sweep a civilisation clean from the surface.
