The famous Greek chocolate factory "PAVLIDIS" celebrated its 150 years of making chocolates in a two day celebration reminding us of the past, the present and the future of Athens, Greece. 30/01/2011
The chocolate manufacturer of Greece "Pavlidis", famous for its "Igias" (healthy in Greek") chocolates is celebrating its 150th birthday. Starting as a small sweat shop in the center of Athens it became a very big and famous company. The brand "Igias" in prevous years was considered the most popular among the chilidren and many adults as well. Despite fierce oposition by other brands it continues to be modernised and appealing to people of all ages.
For 2 continuous days there was an exhibition featuring the history of the brand and the way its famous product is produced. Students from the Greek art school Bacalo were exhibiting proposals for new styles of packaging to celebrate the occasion. Hundreds of small chilidren ran to the chocolate fountains to drink fresh choolate, or learned from a workers how "Igias" chocolates were produced. For the adults Jacobs coffee and hot chocolate was offered as people were shivering with cold. As I left the exhibition hundreds of smiling faces, small and large were waiting in the queue to see the exhibition.
