The Syrian Facebook ban has apparently been lifted allowing Syrians to connect online, check email and chat at internet cafes as access to the social network appears to be officially lifted after a 4 year ban by Syrian authorities. Damascus, Syria.
At last the Facebook ban has been lifted in Syria, one of the strictest countries in managing virtual networks and communication tools, the Syrian Government has decided to lift its ban on sites such as Facebook and Youtube. A move to show self confidence, yet a gist of official understanding to the street demands, especially after a day of anger.
Syria, the third in what is described in the domino revolution after Tunisia and Egypt. The silence of the street brought a lot of relief to the Syrian Authority , offering them extra space and peace to make serious moves in correcting mistakes.
President Al-asad showed confidence in his last interview, and in this move he now shows confidence in the Syrian street mentality. As young people say, it does not mean that the lion will sleep with fully-closed eyes, which means the given extra social space will throw extra weight on the shoulders of the Syrian security, to be sure the freedom wont turn into headache.
