Hundreds of fire men gathered in Madrid to protest against the Major Gallardon.
Spanish fire men were disguised and interpreting their own funeral in Madrid's streets in order to fight against major Alberto Ruiz Gallardon. In 2003 he got into power and made critical changes in the fire men brigade.
Currently, the city counts on 1,250 fire men when Gallardon said they were going to be 1,855. According to European recommendations, the number of fire men should be 3,200 in Madrid.
In addition to this, the facilities and coaches that they use when they need to rescue people or extinguish fires are more than 20 years old. They need changes in their laws as well as in their salaries.
On the 5th of September 1987, 10 fire men lost their lives in the worst tragedy ever in Spain regarding fire. They were remembered during the demonstration.
