Carnival Queen elected in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Recinto Ferial de Tenerife was packed for the Gala Election of the Carnival queen. Seventeen candidates competed for the honour of reigning over the 3rd biggest carnival in the world. A show of dancing and singing from the many groups who took part in the carnival performed before the 17 candidates were presented to the public on the huge stage. After a 4 hour show the judges declared Naomi Cabrera Pulido as queen. Her costume, "Cien Años de Historia" (100 years of history), was designed by Leo Martinez, and she represented the newspaper El Dia. She will preside over the Announcing parade on Friday, and will take part in the main Carnival parade on Shrove Tuesday.
