Fairport Convention start their 2009 Acoustic Convention Tour, Margate, Kent.

Fairport Convention played Margate's West Coast Bar , on Saturday evening, 2nd May, 2009. It was the 2nd performance of their' Fairport Acoustic Convention UK Tour 2009', They played a superb set with great flair and charm, upholding their reputation for being the worlds innovators of modern folk music. Formed in 1967, Fairport Convention have spent 42 years shaping and contributing to folk music as we know it today. Fiddle player, Ric Sanders delivered an impressive display of his talent to wield his bow, which at times seemed faster than the speed of light. Two of the original members are still in the line up, founding member Simon Nichol and bass player David Pegg. Chris Lessley on mandolin and violin and Gerry Conway on drums , makes up the rest of the present day line -up. They will be hosting their annual festival at Cropready, near Banbury, Oxford, Uk, in August later this year.
