Squatters calling themselves 'Topple the Tyrants' moved in to Saif Gaddafi's £11m house in North London this morning as they do not trust the British government to properly seize Gaddafi's corrupt assets. The group calling itself Topple the Tyrants said it entered the house and hung anti-regime banners from the widows. Spokesman Montgomery Jones says the squatters, who are not Libyan, will stay "until this property can be returned to the Libyan people."
The eight-bedroom Georgian-style house with swimming-pool and sauna is owned by Muammar Gaddafi's son, who had put it on the market for more than £10 million. It was withdrawn from sale last month.
The British government has seized more than £2 billion in assets belonging to the Gaddafi family and associates, as part of sanctions.
Jerome Taylor of Glentree Estates, which used to be letting agent for the Hampstead mansion said police were outside property.
