13 people were killed when clashes broke out between Coptic Christians and conservative Muslims on Tuesday night. The clashes took place in the Cairo neighbornood of Nasr City, where conservative Muslims allegedyly attacked a peaceful demonstration condemning the torching of a church south of Cairo.
140 others were injured.
Egypt’s Minister of Health, Ashraf Hatem, confirmed the death toll.
The Egyptian military launched an investigation into the violence and said the public prosecution office will do the same.
