Veiled women of Tunisia allowed to hold Passport images

In realisation of this new measure, a draft amending Decree No. 717 of 1993 dated April 13, 1993 and fixing the material and technical standards of national identity card has been developed, adds a statement released Thursday by the Interior Ministry.

In Article 6, the text of the Decree will be adopted in the coming days, it requires women to show only their face and eyes in their passport photos, which allows images of veiled women on the national identity.

This measure, said the same press release, is in the right thread of reforms to establish the principles and values ​​of the revolution and Tunisia to guarantee the observance of public and individual freedoms.

The Interior Ministry had authorized since February 12 last, the issue of a national identity card with passport photos of bearded people.
