Several hundred cannabis smokers and tokers gathered at Yonge-Dundas Square for the annual '420 Smoke Out' pot rally.
The gale-like winds may have blown out their lighters, but that still didn't deter the several hundred revelers at this year's annual 420 Smoke Out held at Yonge-Dundas Square. Those in the know passed bongs, blunts and baked goods while accidental tourists joined in with delighted glee. Bong Man made his usual appearance with a newer suped-up costume and winner of the day's biggest joint goes to Alan Edwards. At 70 grams the super joint took two hours for him to roll.
It's hard to believe, looking through the haze at the crowd, that marijuana smoking is still illegal in this country. This may soon no longer be the case thanks to the recent verdict in R. vs. Mernagh where the Ontario Supreme Court ruled Canada's pot laws unconstitutional. The Crown has appealed this decision, but with the upcoming federal election in Canada, the 420 crowd wanted to remind politicians that they toke and they vote.
