Fire crews close of Charing Cross over alleged smoke scare

Emergency services attend Charing Cross tube station in London. Station employees reported alleged smoke in a tunnel and an asbestos scare.
Emergency services attended charing x tube station in London. Details of what was happening were scarce, but a station employee said there was a report of smoke in a tunnel and an asbestos scare. This seemed to be the likely scenario as a LFB hazardous material officer arrived to take charge of the incident. There were also specialist medical teams in attendance.
At its peak there were 9 fire appliances and almost as many ambulances in attendance.
The station remained closed for appx 1 hour while the incident was investigated.
