Giant insects invade Koblenz's garden festival

Street theatre in the form of giant insects was the highlight of the BUGA festival (federal horticulture show) in Koblenz. The performance by the Sarruga theatre group from Spain took the form of a parade through the gardens of the Festung Ehrenbreitstein (Ehrenbreitstein Fortress) as the sun was setting on the evening of 7 May 2011.

The giant creatures made their way through the park amidst smoke and assisted by dramatic music and lighting. The insects were mechanically controlled by artists from the troupe Sarruga, headed by Pakito Gutierrez.
