The annual 'flowers and fronds fair' in honor of the Virgin Mary was held in Panchimalco. This is an indigenous peoples' and Catholic celebration.
Located in San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America, “Panchimalco” is a small town known for its colorful and religious indigenous festivities. They celebrated The Flowers and Fronds Fair in honor to the Virgin Mary.
Early morning at the Cofradías or Co-fraternities, children and adults, start arranging the Fronds with the Flowers, to be ready for the procession in the middle afternoon.
During the procession people carry their own Fronds with Flowers and walk all around the town. All the way there is a dance performed by the “Historiantes” or Historians, group of dancers who lead the procession.
After the procession they celebrate mass at church.
