The southwest monsoon has reached most parts of the northeastern states of India and is expected to cover the entire region in the next few days according to Indian Meterological Department (IMD).
The monsoon has reached Mizoram Tuesday and has so far covered Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland and partially Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
In the northeastern region, monsoon lasts from June to September.
According to an official report, the rainfall in the region was short by 25 percent last year compared to normal monsoon.
