Demonstrators gathered in Syntagma Square in Athens to protest the reform bill and address the financial crisis. Greece. 15th June 2011
A protest broke out in Syntagma Square in Athens, Greece on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011. Although most are generally peaceful, many of the protestors utilized violence and force to send their political messages and agendas to Parliament. The police attempted to control the crowd using tear gas, while the demonstrators attacked buildings and security cameras using chunks of marble, molotov cocktails, and stun grenades. One protestor, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "I do not like violence and I hate that we have had to use it, but we don't know what else to do. We have been protesting peacefully for months and no one is listening. I can't feed my family. I don't know what else to do."
