Second day of strikes brings more clashes with police forces - Athens

Major clashes with the police occured and are ongoing during the protest for the austerity measures and the second day of strikes in Athens. Many injured by the riot police who violently attacked the protesters. Athens, Greece 29/6/2011

While the Ministers voted for another austerity law, The riot police with no apparent reason threw teargas and flashbang grenades to the people gathered in front of the Parliament at Syntagma square and released a major attack to the protesters from every side of the square, with the protesters and masked protesters too replying with rocks, objects and a few molotov coctails.

The riot cops also threw rocks to civilians, injuring many, while they detained for no reason many civilians. Because of the extended use of teargas and flashbang grenades many resulted with breathing problems, fainting and even some spitting blood from the excessive exposure to teargas.
Delta team cops (on bikes) made use of DIY flashbang grenades using two large firecrackers tied with a AA battery and threw them to the people who stood at the side of the street, one almost hurt a fellow Demotix contributor, Endiaferon.

There are still ongoing clashes at Syntagma sq. while there is a plea for medics and anti-teargas medication.
