Arrests were made at an anti-cuts camp that has occupied Trafalgar Square at least 8 times in the past without problem. Wardens and police were at the camp together with at least one member of the Greater London Authority. London, UK. 29th June 2011

A camp was set up in trafalgar Square ,London by a group who have been there at least 8 times. This time the wardens decided to quote various by laws and began to get the police to arrest the protesters one by one. I believe that Chris Harris of the GLA was there to oversee this removal by he refused to make any comments. During one of the first arrests none of the police would make any comment or answer questions as to what they were doing. So reason was given. At a later time a different policeman explained what he was doing re the by laws. Dean Eardley was also there from the security firm CUK who run the warden service. He said he did not know why they were taken action this time and not on previous occasions. One of the organizers of the protest said they were in occupation to show their support for the strike on thursday.
All in all it was extremely strange that the wardens were stopping this protest as they had not done so at earlier protests.
