Arizona's Major League Baseball stadium to host "All Stars" Game
Chase Field will host the 2011 All Stars baseball game bringing together the best players from the two major baseball leagues in the United States, who will play against each other in this annual event. Arizona, USA. 10th July 2011
The 82nd MLB All-Star Game will take place at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks team. Chase Field is located in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The annual game brings together the best players of the two major baseball leagues in the United States -the American League and the National League, which will play against each other. The event will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. It will be the first MLB All-Star Game to be held in Arizona and the first in a National League Park to have a designated hitter. Pro-immigration groups sought unsuccessfully to move the game to another state due to the controversial SB1070 anti-illegal immigration bill passed by the Arizona legislature and signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer in 2010. Activists considered asking baseball team owners, sponsors and some players to boycott the All-Star game. However, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig announced on May 13, 2010 that the game would stay at Chase Field in Phoenix as planned. Some protests are planned outside the stadium the day of the game.
