Suspected Militant Blast derails Puri Express with 100 injured - India
More than 100 passengers were injured, 15 seriously, when the Guwahati-Puri Express derailed after suspected militants triggered an explosion on the tracks near Rangiya, India. 11th July 2011
Rescue personnel and bystanders survey the scene of a train accident in the village of Bhatkuchi, some 70kms from Guwahati early morning of July 11, 2011. A powerful IED (Improvised Explosive Device) planted on the tracks exploded, derailing four coaches at Bhatkuchi, in lower Assam. . No fatalities were reported in that incident but 20 of the 100 injured were described by police as being in a serious condition. Soon after the explosion, the Railway relief team and Army personnel rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers. The injured passengers were admitted in Nalbari, Rangia and Gauhati Medical College Hospitals.
