The first day of the traditional 10 day-long Esala Perahera began in Kandy with a colourful parade of brightly decorated elephants. It is said that the procession brings good luck to all who observe this annual event. Sri Lanka. 4th August 2011
Day 1 of the 10 day long Esala Perahera started on Thursday the 4th August. The procession lasts for 10 days and will finish on the 14th. The day 1 of the procession is said to bring good luck to the observers.
