Heading from the Peace Park after the anniversary ceremony of the bombing of Hiroshima, a large group of smiling, peaceful protesters walked through the city shouting anti-war and anti-nuclear power slogans. Japan. 6th August 2011

More like a parade than a political protest, the people both young and old who took part smiled and waved at people as they passed by.

This was a great step forward in the campaign to rid Japan of nuclear weapons as protestors felt empowered by the support of their government.

The Prime minister said in his official speech at the memorial ceremony that the government will official move away from nuclear power. In light of the ongoing disaster at Fukushima, the Japanese public are overwhelmingly in support of leaving the nuclear legacy behind.
