Thousands of Muslim Palestinian women try to reach the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem through Qalandia checkpoint on a Friday during Ramadan. Harsh restrictions by the Israeli army meant that many who attempted to pass were turned away, while others waited for a long time at the checkpoint in Ramallah.
Some of them started to queue at the checkpoint from 5 am. Access was restricted to men over 50 and women over 45 years old.
