Muhammadiyah Eid Prayers held in Surabaya

Muhammadiyah Muslims perform Sholat Eid prayer 1432 H today (08/30/2011). Sholat were held at several locations in Surabaya. A number of places in Surabaya is used for the implementation of the Eid prayer. Muhammadiyah itself has pointed to 71 locations in Surabaya as a place of execution of the Eid prayer. One of the most crowded locations namely at Tugu Pahlawan, Surabaya.
Besides Muhammadiyah, Muslim Hizbut-Tahir Indonesia (HTI) also hold Eid Sholat today. Their activities are concentrated in the Garden Apsari, Surabaya.
Both groups have a different opinion with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia which sets 1 Syawal 1432 H falls on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Muhammadiyah and HTI's Idul Fitri 1432 H specify the exact date of August 30, 2011. Muhammadiyah based on the Hisab system, whereas HTI refers to the global rukyat. According to them, Syawal moon has been seen in several regions of Saudi Arabia which is north of Riyadh, Syaqra, and Sudair.
Secretary of the Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah (PWM) East Java, M. Najib Hamid, who met after the Eid Prayers at the Tugu Pahlawan claimed that the time difference 1 Syawal is common.
