Maracatudo Mafua is a London-based maracatu group inspired by the Afro-Brazilian rhythm culture from Pernambuco, Brazil's Northeast State. London, England. 29th August 2011

The group teamed that composed of dancers in bright colured dresses and drummers up at St Annes Nursery on Freston Road for preparations followed by a short warm up session as they walked and danced to join the procession with the Cocoyea Carnival Mas Band. Cocoyea is one of the largest carnival mas costume bands to participate at Notting Hill Carnival, with more than 300 costumed masqueraders.

Through voices, music and dance they share the power of maracatu - a traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythm, dance and culture from Pernambuco the northeast of Brazil.

There hues on there colourful costumes are representative of various things ie yellow for Oxum (wealth), Red/Pink for Iansa ( Strenght) and White for Oxala ( Peace).
