Phillipe Gilberts wins the Grand Prix Cycliste race - Quebec City
Phillipe Gilberts of the Omega Pharma-Lotto team wins the second edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste of Quebec City closely followed by Robert Gesink of the Rabobank cycling team. Canada. 9th September 2011
The second edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste took place today through the streets of Quebec City, first of 2 days of events, with the second part taking place in Montreal this Sunday. The winner was Phillipe Gilberts of the Omega Pharma-Lotto team, who was closely followed by Robert Gesink of the Rabobank Cycling Team. Rigoberto Uran of the Sky Procycling team finishing in third place.
The 12.6 km circuit winds through parts of the scenic Old Town, along the Saint Lawrence River, and through the historic Plains of Abraham Battlefields Park, all must-see sectors of town on every tourist’s agenda. With the total race length at 201.6km representing 16 laps of the circuit, and winning time of just over 5 hrs. and 3 min., it is unlikely that the participants of today’s race slowed down to enjoy the view.
