The Tecuanis dance to save village animals and crops is performed
The word Tecuani Tekoa means beast eat. It can be a wolf, jaguar, and ocelot. The dance represents the hunting of this animal that destroyed crops, and killed animals of the villagers. Xoxocotla, Mexico. 9th September 2011
The word beast means Tecuani eat can be a dog and jaguar or ocelot. The dance is, properly, the hunting of this animal that destroyed crops and killed animals of the villagers.
The execution of the dance is performed during religious festivals, held between indigenous and mestizo communities in central and southern Mexico.
The costume consists of mask Tecuani dog, jaguar or ocelot, a one-piece suit with characteristics of the animal wears sandals, cover your face with a mask and his head with a hat. Its function is to play with children and youth.
The two dancers who go to the front lines are called huehues or old and are carrying a stick or cane to strike to be wrong.
The music is performed by a single musician with a reed flute with three holes and a double drum patch, this fact quiote and goatskin.

La ejecucion de la danza es ejecutada durante las fiestas religiosas, celebradas entre comunidades indígenas y mestizas del centro y sur de México.
El vestuario del tecuani consiste de máscara de perro, jaguar u ocelote, un traje de una sola pieza con características propias del animal; calza huaraches, cubren la cara con una máscara y su cabeza con un sombrero. Su función es jugar con niños y jóvenes.
Los dos danzantes que van al frente de las filas se llaman huehues o viejos y son que llevan una vara o bastón para golpear al que se equivoque.
La música es ejecutada por un solo músico con una flauta de carrizo de tres orificios y un tambor de doble parche, éste hecho de quiote y piel de chivo.
