Dobet Gnahore performs at the London Africa Music Festival

Grammy winner Dobet Gnahore performed from her new album ‘Djekpa La You’ (Conrejour) at the Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Southbank centre during the 9th London African Music Festival.

Grammy winner Dobet Gnahore is without a doubt the most soulful of the new generation divas emerging from Africa today. She draws heavily on the traditional music of the Ivory Coast and explores many other African genres to create a diverse, Pan-African pop-influenced sound that is all her own. She sings in more than eight different languages and her lyrics speak about the issues of women in Africa, as well as many social issues.

Dobet Gnahore is also an accomplished dancer and traditional and contemporary African dance features heavily in her live shows. Dobet is a vivacious bundle of energy, blessed with a powerful voice and infectious charisma. She plays from her new album ‘Djekpa La You’ (Conrejour).
