Each year the roads around New Brighton Promenade are closed to the public to allow rally cars to race on the tarmac. A Peugeot 205 was the Class 1 winner this year. UK. 10th September 2011

As the cars were getting ready to race nobody could be certain who would win. In recent years the rally has been won by a Skoda, a Darrian, a rover metro 6R4 and a Subaru. The weather also can make a big difference, the four wheel drive cars tend to do better in the wet.

There was some drama off the circuit during the race, a kite surfer lost their kite and needed to be rescued.

The main prizes are based on engine size:
Class 1: up to 1400cc
Class 2: 1401cc - 1600cc
Class 3: 1601cc - 2000cc
Class 4: over 2000cc
