Bernard Thibault leads fifteen thousand protesters in Marseilles

More then 15,000 people marched in the streets of Marseilles led by the strongest person in France today Bernard Thibault the head of the largest workers union in France the CGT. The protest started at the old port of Marseilles and ended in the Castelane circus. The appearance of Mr. Thibault in Marseilles attracted all the media in France and probably boosted up the demonstration. The protest was against the attempt of the government to tax the complementry medical insurance (the Mutuele), against closures of factories and rafineries in the area, the demand to maintain the working conditions and of course to keep the huge, cumbersome and hyper bureaucratic public service as it is un-touched. The CGT took no chances and increased the security around Mr. Thibault that held the main sign saying: To defend the employees so they would not pay for the crisis, urgent measures for employment, the workers, the social conditions and the public service.The celebration was effected by the absent of another big union the FO, that will probably have it's own march sooner or later.
