In this year’s National Day of Spain some 3000 personnel from the Armed forces marched during the Parade in Madrid. HM King Juan Carlos l proceeded over national holiday. Spain, Madrid 12/10/2011
HM King Juan Carlos l proceeded over the military parade on the Nation Day of Spain, which this year took place in Neptuno in the Paseo del Prado. But this year the King had to view the homage and raising of the National flag and laying of the wreath from the podium because of recent medical treatment to his leg.
Due to the economic crisis this traditional event included this year 3,000 personnel, 147 vehicles and 55 aircraft. The whole event took just over one and a half hours including the arrival proceedings of HM the King and HM the Queen.
The homage the flag included the participation of the Royal Guard, parachute jump by members of the Air Force acrobatic team, PAPEA, and a fly past by the acrobatic squadron Patrulla Águila, of the Academia General del Aire, flying 7 C-101 jets.
The main fly past by the Air Force was let by 2 F-18 from Sqdn Ala nº 12, led by Lt. General Juan Luis Abad Cellini, head Air Combat Command (jefe del Mando Aéreo de Combate).
The land parade was led by General, head of the Armoured Brigade “GUADARRAMA” XII, Brigadier General MIGUEL ALCAÑIZ COMAS.
