One Big Drop was organised by "Children with Leukaemia" to help raise money for research into childhood Leukaemia. Children with Leukaemia are the UK’s leading charity dedicated to fighting Britain’s biggest childhood cancer.
This unique charity event took place today, Sunday 14 June in eight cities across the UK. The cities chosen make up the word CHILDREN.
The eight cities selected were Cardiff, Huddersfield, Ipswich, London, Derby, Reading, Exeter and Nottingham.
Leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer
and only fifty years ago a diagnosis of leukaemia
was tantamount to a death sentence for a child.
Remarkably, four out of five affected children now
survive but the powerful, intensive treatments can
themselves cause severe problems in the children
whose lives they save. CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA is Britain’s leading
charity dedicated to the conquest of this
devastating disease. Not only do we fund ground-
breaking research into the development of more
effective, yet kinder treatments but we also have a
worldwide programme of research investigating
the underlying causes of the disease.down an iconic building.
