Zimbabwe & Zambia are to co-host the 2013 UNWTO assembly at Victoria Falls, in 2013.
The announcement was made during the 19th Session of the UNWTO general assembly by UNWTO secretary general Talib Rifai in South Korea which took place from October 8 - 14 2011.
The bid will bring 176 countries to Victoria Falls, the largest world gathering of countries in Zimbabwe since the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting held in the resort town, about two decades ago.
Other bidders for the 2113 assembly were Russia, Turkey, Jordan and Qatar.
Zimbabwe and Zambia become the second hosts in Africa to win the bid after Senegal in 2005.
The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) are located on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe. At 108 metres (360 ft), the falls are the largest in the world.
The hosting will be the biggest endorser of the new brand, Zimbabwe a World of Wonders.
