More than million of pro Assad supporters rally in Umayyad square in Damascus, a few hours ahead of a visit by senior Arab officials. Damascus,Syria. 26th October,2011.
The Arab ministerial committee led by Qatar's prime minister is expected to arrive to discuss the possibility of a national dialogue between the opposition and Mr Assad's regime.
Opposition groups refuse any dialogue with the regime, particularly while it continues its military crackdown on protesters. The United Nations says the crackdown has already killed 3,000 people.
