Ana Ivanovic and Roberta Vinci participated in "Cookies for Charity Created by Champions" in the series of pre-tournament activities Commonwealth Bank Tennis Championship at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua.
Guided by Ewald Jeske, Executive Chef of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, the players created a few of their favourite flavoured cookies. The finished treats were then sold at The Tennis Village during the tournament to raise funds for UNICEF's education projects in Asia Pacific. For 16 years UNICEF and Starwood Hotels and Resort have been working together to raise funds for the world's most vulnerable children, with over AUD $ 7 M raised since the program began.
Mr. Bipan Kapur, General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and Bali International Convention Centre also commented, "We appreciate that the players who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in our Cookies for Charity event. It is heartening to know that away from the court they chose to do something positiveto help children in need. It is an honour for us to be an integral part of this prestigious sporting event for the third year running.
