A march of 10,000 to15,000 shut down the Port of Oakland, which was part of the ongoing Occupy Wall Street General Strikes. USA 11th November 2011
At 4:00 the main event of the day began: the march from downtown to the Port of Oakland to shut down the docks. Hundreds of Critical Mass bikers had gotten to the Port and began shutting it down a little after 4, by preventing trucks from leaving the Port facility. By 5pm the whole operation had been shut down as 6 busloads of people and thousands of marchers converged on the port. According to one report, there were 4,000 people at the port, some climbing onto trucks and cargo containers. one trucker whose truck was prevented from leaving told a news camera, "They're doing it for us, right?"
