Panama today celebrated 108 years of separation from Colombia with two parades in different parts of the city. Thousands of Panamanians marched in the Casco Viejo and 50th Street to celebrate the November 3, 1903 when Panama seceded from Colombia.
On November 3, 1903 saw the proclamation of independence in Panama City, a decision that immediately found support in the rest of the country and consumer Panamanians declared this territory as a sovereign independent state with the name of the Republic of Panama.
