Questionable immigrants detained in Inhumane ways - Sepang
Questionable immigrants are detained outside the LCCT Airport in Malaysia in the heat, unsupervised, in a cage. 25th October 2011
While much of Malaysia fixates on a harmless sexuality rights festival, real issues continue.
These people were caged, and stuck sitting as people got out of their tour buses, and taxis. In Coffee Bean Cafe only 30 meters away, people were having Chai Lattes as these human beings were waiting. No authorities were around, and I have no clue how long they had been stuck there -- or what was going to happen to them. It was hot, and I can only begin to imagine what it felt like in that cage.
A couple of benches down from me a couple of women looked very concerned but it seemed like they were not wanting to get too close to the detainees (I am guessing one of them is a relative).
'Maybe' these are people who have arrived in Malaysia illegally, but shouldn't they be handled in a more professional way. The airport is not a zoo.
With the refugee swap between Australia and Malaysia (http://news.yahoo.com/malaysia-australia-stand-refugee-swap-deal-062907294.html) , as well as Myanmar and Malaysia (http://www.dvb.no/news/opposition-to-malaysia-refugee-swap-grows/18313), one has to wonder what will really happen to these people?
