OccupyLA hosted a visit from Rev. Jesse Jackson Tuesday evening, at L.A. City Hall. He toured the camp briefly and met with demonstrators before taking the stage to give a speech to the occupation, who welcomed him enthusiastically.
Using the people's mic, which requires the assembly to repeat back the words of the speaker, he delivered the following in a cadenced rhythm, "We never fought a battle, that we lost. We never lost a battle, unless we stopped fighting. And so march on..through it all. Let nothing, wreck your spirit. Keep hope alive, red and yellow, brown, black and white. We're all precious, in God's sight. Everybody, is somebody. From New York, to Washington, to Atlanta, to Miami, to Mississippi, to Ohio, to California, to Britain, to South Africa. All around the world, all around the world, all around the world. Keep hope alive. Keep hope alive. I love you. I love you."
