More than 25,000 students from colleges and universities throughout Quebec marched to protest the tuition increases announced by the Charest Government. Protesters say the tuition rise will increase their student debt. 10th November 2011

More than 25,000 students from colleges and universities throughout Quebec marched today to protest the tuition increases announced by the Charest Government in Quebec. Protesters say the tuition increase in unjustified, will deepen their already considerable student debt, and will make education increasingly inaccessible only to those who can't afford to pay. The organizers of the event, the Coalition Opposed to the Privatization of Public Services, say that the proposed rise in tuition would virtually double over five years the cost of getting a post-secondary education in Quebec. The massive turnout included students from educational institutions across the province as well as over 130 professional, union, social justice and community organizations.
