To combat racism and hatred manifested throughout Israel, and in Jaffa in particular, the AJCC (Arab and Jewish Coexistence Center) decided to launch a festival dedicated to tolerance and understanding.
The festival begins with a multicultural parade that includes orchestras, outdoor theater, dance and folklore, clowns, and jugglers from different background.
“Wahad Yom” (“What a day”) followed International Day for Tolerance, which was marked November 16.
Co-sponsored by the Delegation and the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Wahad Yom brought together a parade of 1,000 people throughout the streets of Jaffa, expressing and demonstrating support for tolerance and coexistence between Arabs and Jews living in Israel. Among the marchers were Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Druse and Bedouin Israelis, as well as American and Russian immigrants.
