Protests at Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers - Kiev
Afghan war veterans, Chernobyl liquidators (those who helped deal with 1986 Chernobyl disaster) and opposition groups protested over the government's social policies at the Cabinet of Ministers. Ukraine. 29th November 2011
On Tuesday, Afghan war veterans and Chornobyl liquidators as well as members of the opposition groups and NGO's: Svoboda, Yulia Timoshenko's party, For Ukraine, Our Ukraine, People's Movement of Ukraine, the Ukrainian People's Party, "Party for Reforms and Order", "Sobor", "No One Except Us", Chornobyl Union of Ukraine and Oleh Liashko's Radical Party protested outside the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev, Ukraine. Also present were a few pensioners (retirees). The demonstrators numbered less than 2,000. There were also a few hundred riot police at the demonstration.
The protesters were demanding changes in Ukraine's social policies, such as payment to the Chernobyl liquidators and Afghan war veterans for the benefits due them and increased social benefits for the retired, poor and disabled.
