St.Petersburg, Russia, August 12, 2009 - action in memory of Zarema Sadulaeva and Ali Dzhabrailov, activists of non-government organization in Chechnia, who were murdered in Chechnia July 10, took place in St.Petersburg at Troitskaya square. About 50 people came to honor their memory.
Zarema Sadulayeva was head of the Let's Save the Generation non-government organization in Chechnya. She worked with UNICEF to aid Chechen children affected by the violence which has swept the Caucus region since the 1990s.
Sadulayeva and Dzhabrailov were kidnapped at the aid organization's office by gunmen wearing camouflage uniforms on August 9, 2009. They were both found shot to death on August 10, 2009, in suburb of Grozny. They were both in their 20s at the time of their murders. Sadulayeva and her husband, Alek Dzhabrailov, who was also active in the charity, married several months ago.
Zarema Sadulayeva's death follows the similar kidnapping and murder of human rights activist Natalia Estemirova in Chechnya in July 2009.
This is not the first case of the murder of human rights activists in Chechnya over the past month. July 15 in Grozny, was abducted and then murdered by a staff member Human Rights Center «Memorial» Natalia Estemirova.
Previous leader of Let's Save the Generation was also murdered in 2005.
