Election campaign is in full bloom in the western city of Herat bordering Iran. All the presidential and provincial council candidates have displayed their posters, banners and portraits in the city. Junctions, streets and shops are decorated with election posters of the top presidential candidates including incumbent President Karzai, former Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Abdullah born to a Tajik mother and Pashtun father from the royal Durrani tribe, former Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani Ahmedzai an ethnic Pashtun and former candidate to head the World Bank and was a candidate to replace Koffi Annan at the U.N. As well as the former Planning Minister Dr. Ramazan Bashardost an ethnic Hazara and female candidate Shalla Attah.
