Assam flood toll 3 ,at Nogth Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district last 10 days, several bridges washed away on Aug 14th 2009.
Destroying standing crops, floods rendered homeless many locals in North Lakhimpur districtin Assam. The monsoon causes the mighty Brahmaputra river to bring Dhakuakhana Nowbaisha guide bundh at Matmora miseries every year. This year too, the Brahmaputra breached a vital embankment also damages, and displaced thousands of villagers in the upper part of the district due to torrential rain last couple of days. Around 35 villages have been submerged in the floods. Flood, water and fodder are some of the major problems faced by the villagers in the Dhemaji district and last night NH-52 has been submerged and lakhimpur district also.
According to Dc Lakhimpur Jayanta Narlikar said over the telephone that over 100 villagers have been affected in Dhakuakhana sub-division and Nowbaisha also and flood water rising to danger levels now.Various bridges and the tributary river and Gay Nadi,Subanshari,Ranganadi created havoc.
